2017
On June 7, 2017, the third “Art for life” charity auction took place.
This time the goal of the project was to create a new unit for post-intensive care and rehabilitation of premature babies and babies with perinatal pathology on the basis of the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Every year more than 22 thousand babies are born prematurely in Ukraine. These children have a high risk of developing disability and chronic diseases. Creation of a specialized unit would allow provision of comprehensive medical aid to them.
As in the previous years, more than 60 authors took part in the auction. For the funds raised from the sale of their works, a major reconstruction of the premises for the new unit has been made and modern equipment for intensive care of babies with perinatal pathology has been bought: lung ventilators, patient monitors, seizure monitor alarm and alert devices, phototherapy lamps, pulse oximeters, incubators etc.
On December 30, 2017, Borys Lozhkin and his wife Nadiia Shalomova opened the unit.
Additionally, a parenting school was set up on its base, which teaches the treatment of prematurely born children.
